minxymilly:

I really am an advocate of the princess plug. Not just because I enjoy them myself, but because it’s a great way for a person to be introduced to anal play in a safe and non-threatening or overwhelming way. So I bring this little FAQ to you. The majority of this is me finally having answers to my own questions when I started. I may add more here as time goes on :)

Q: What is a Princess Plug?
A: The princess plug is more of a nickname for a bejewelled anal plug. They aren’t normally of a massive size, usually being relatively small, but always come with a coloured jewel, or ornate decoration on the base.

Q: Are they safe?
A: Generally yes. The more common plugs you find tend to be cheaply made with a small base, which can give a feeling that the plug will slip inside, even if it never does. The safest materials for princess plugs, is Medical Grade Stainless Steel, Glass or 100% Medical Grade Silicone. Glass is usually the safest as many people can have allergic reactions to the metal ones. And, assuming you are purchasing from a reputable dealer, you’ll be able to stay away from the non-pure metal plugs, and plugs where the decorations can fall out.

Q: How do I clean my plug?
A: With warm water and an antibacterial soap. I have a Dettol hand soap that I use only for washing my toys with. I also use a cheap toothbrush to clean any crevices between the jewel and the base. I then just dry the plug off and put it back into its box or storage bag.

Q: Won’t the Glass Plugs break?
A: I can say, with 100% certainty, that a glass plug will not break when it is inside of you. Your bum is not that strong!

Q: What about Lubricant?
A: Always use a water based lubricant when engaging in anal play. I suggest Sliquid Sassy, as that is my personal favourite, but any water based lubricant that works for you, will work for your plug. Make sure that you are fully relaxed before you try to insert your plug, especially the larger sizes. Having an orgasm before insertion can really help, and use a lot of lube. Lubricate the plug and your anus before insertion. Never use a plug without lube as you can tear the skin inside of the anus and cause infections.

Q: How long can I wear my plug?
A: This is really up to you. I wear mine till I start to really feel it. I tend to get an ache where my anus is clamped around the plug. I take this as a sign of either two things. I need to re-lubricate, or I need to take it out. I always re-lubricate first, giving my anus a bit of a break. While I am adding extra lube, I clench my anal muscles, very much like a kegel exercise, but for my bum. This keeps my muscles in top working order. I then attempt to insert the plug again. If I don’t like how it feels, I take it out because my butt is saying “No more!”. If it goes in and feels fine, I can leave it in longer.

Q: But…the bum is where poo comes out!
A: Yes it is, but where your plug will sit, inside of your rectum, the poo isn’t stored there. Assuming you are having healthy bowel movements, the amount of mess should be quite minimal. Unfortunately you may get a few spots on your plug, but these will wash right off. Just don’t wash your toys in the kitchen sink. Using a plug will not cause the poo to seep out of you and cause an almighty mess. That just won’t happen.

Q: Where can I buy the best plug for me?
A: That depends entirely on where you are in the world, and what kind of plug you want.

  • The first plug I will always recommend is one of the plugs from the Crystal Delights range. These plugs are of extremely high quality, beautifully hand made and uses genuine swarovski crystals in their plugs. They also have a huge base, so there’s no chance of the plug slipping inside of you. They are the best of the best and ship world wide.
  • If you don’t want a glass plug, there is a really nice silicone plug on LoveHoney by Marc Dorcel. It has a weight inside of it that moves as you move, giving a jiggling feeling. You can purchase yours from Lovehoney AUSLovehoney USALovehoney UK

  • When it comes to the small metal jewel plugs, there is a lot of variety. You can buy them pretty much anywhere, but you should really only buy the best as some of these cheaper plugs might not be of a pure steel and can chip or rub off inside of your bum. A good brand is Julian Snelling. There is a large and a small, and these are available at Lovehoney.

Q: What are some really good sites to buy more than just princess plugs from?
A: When I purchase my sex toys, I try to go with the best sites that are value for money. I live in Australia so the sites I have chosen will ship to me, and won’t cost me an arm and a leg in postage costs.

If you have any questions that aren’t answered here, please send me an ask. I will be very happy to answer your question for you!
I hope this FAQ has been helpful to you and that you are less anxious about buying your first princess plug.
