I have / had a colleague who loves travelling to cities all over the world. We sometimes talk about travelling but we have concluded that our travel goals are very, very different. My friend loves the hustle and bustle of cities, the buildings, the art, the whole vibe.
I get the attraction. I too like the vibe and the art and the opportunity for great food. However, I can only do that many people in one place for a short period. I think I want to experience cities, but when I get there I find myself overwhelmed. I am much more interested in wide open spaces and interesting rocks.
Having said that, I have a long-term goal of visiting Las Vegas. Most likely only for a few days to get the feel of the place, check out a lot of kitschy stuff and experience a city in the middle of a desert instead of next to a body of water which is the more typical place for a city to be.
I did enjoy Vancouver when I was there. Only for a few days, though, and that was enough for me.
